The roof of another court in Plaza de Castilla collapsed this morning on the workers’ stations without causing any injuries, as reported by the STAJ union in a statement.
A few days ago, there was a similar incident when the roof of Investigative Courts 23 and 35 fell off. Thus, water began to drip, until finally four tiles of the false ceiling collapsed on the workers’ stations.
The union has complained again about the terrible employment situation of the workers of “a building whose problems are becoming more and more pressing and where the workers suffer the constant deterioration of their facilities every week.”
This morning, according to STAJ, it was the Investigative Court No. 15which joins a long list of courts affected by the deterioration of this judicial infrastructure, where once again, the ceiling on workers’ jobs has collapsed.
STAJ continues to demand that the Community of Madrid guarantee the safety of workers, since in the face of events that continue to repeat themselves over time, it is becoming “both the physical integrity of the workers and professionals and that of the citizens who come to these Courts are at serious risk”.
The Community of Madrid recalls that 6.5 million euros have been invested since 2017 in the maintenance, improvement and rehabilitation of the building that houses the Plaza de Castilla courts, in the capital, “which shows the commitment of the regional government to provide “to professionals and users of modern, efficient and accessible judicial infrastructure in each of the 21 judicial districts of the region.”
«Only in recent months, the regional government has carried out specific work on this property, such as renovating the assembly hall or cleaning the facades and windows, as well as signing a new maintenance and cleaning contract, with a larger budget and new company in charge of this work,” they add.
