Los Wawies, an animated series that invites boys and girls to explore the world with wonder and imagination, will premiere next December 14 on Clan TV. Created by the Galician designer Ton Pernas and the children’s screenwriter Eva Peéez Misa, Pernas himself “discovered” these tender and fun creatures together with his little daughter Lila, from their home in Lima, with the hope of bringing the little ones closer. values such as friendship, solidarity, creativity, empathy or respect for nature.
Aimed at boys and girls between 3 and 6 years old, the Wawies are small and endearing beings that live on Wawaland, a microscopic planet that is moved by the wind from one side of the Earth to the other. Through their colorful adventures, the characters transmit values such as friendship, empathy, cooperation and respect for the environment, teaching boys and girls while having fun with them.
Wawaland may be passing right next to you, always be aware. They can cross the Sahara desert, or the skyscrapers of New York or cross the Amazon jungle. Every day for them is an adventure and constant learning. The wind takes them from one side of planet Earth to the other, while they learn about all the positive things that humans have.
The Wawaland Planet project has an International Advisory Board that guides its projects by aligning them with the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), especially those related to decent work, climate action, responsible production and global alliances. This council includes the prestigious journalist Charo Izquierdo, the marketing director of Estrella Galicia, David Fernández, and the cultural director of the Ortega-Marañón Foundation, Federico Buyolo. the AI expert Alba Meijide, as well as the executive in sustainable projects Enrique Barreiro.
Climate change, economic crises and inequality also affect boys and girls, who will be the future leaders of change. Therefore, it is essential to provide them with the necessary tools to face these challenges and build a more supportive, diverse and sustainable world.
«WawaLand Planet is my life project, it is the summary of everything I have learned in my life on a professional, personal and human level. The Wawies have made me mature as a human being, and assume that we all have to do our part. It is a privilege to have discovered them with my daughter and together with her to bring all their magic to planet Earth. All of this would not have been possible without the entire team that has been by my side. Talented people like Eva Pérez, Miquel Tejada, María Pulido or Pepe Sanchez among others,” says designer Ton Pernas.
With The Wawies, each episode becomes a fun and educational lesson. Through creative challenges and solutions, children learn to work as a team, foster their imagination, and discover the value of respecting differences. The series aims to inspire social skills and promote empathy, essential values in child development.
The Wawies and Wawaland Planet are a reflection of the great diversity that exists in today’s world and, therefore, they celebrate how wonderful it is to be different and the importance of respecting those who are not like you. OPO, TOK, ACA and BOW are committed to their essential mission, in addition to entertaining the little ones. The Wawies dream of a happier, more supportive, generous and healthier planet for everyone.
The Wawies feature the voices of the actor and director Santiago Segura as Opo, and the actress and comedian, Silvia Abril as Aca, who bring their characteristic charisma and humor to the characters, making them even more endearing to children. In fact, they are the two most antagonistic wawies and very funny situations arise between them, which Santiago and Silvia have helped to enhance.
For Ton, on a creative and conceptual level it was a challenge, “it is a project that has been greatly inspired by my life and my references. Wonderful people who have passed through my life and have made me admire them and learn from them. I have tried to reflect my social, cultural and personal references in the personality and “humanity” of the Wawies. An eclectic “moodboard” brought to life by Miliki, Los Barbapapás, Groucho Marx, Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente, La Pantera Rosa, David Bowie, Cantinflas, Snoopy, Eduardo Manos Tijeras, Mortadelo, Rafael Nadal, Donald Duck, etc… and then a great team always at my side.
