Almost a month has passed since Rodrigo Hernández raised the Ballon d’Or – the second in Spanish men’s football – to the skies of Paris, but it was not until this Saturday that the Spanish midfielder was able to celebrate the prestigious award with your fans.
A spectacular tributein which no detail has been lacking with a huge mural on Monday with the legend ‘Rodri, Ballon d’Or 2024’, was given to him by Manchester City on the pitch of the Etihad Stadium before the match against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Madrid player appeared dressed in a black coat and without crutches, and was escorted by a set of lights to the center of the field, where he received the Ballon d’Or and raised it to offer it to the fans citizens.
Rodri has not only been the first Golden Ball in City history, but also the first Premier League player to win this award since Cristiano Ronaldo in 2008.
The midfielder, who only missed one game with his team last season and won his fourth consecutive Premier League, the European Super Cup, the Club World Cup and the European Championship with Spain, continues to recover from cruciate ligament injury that will keep him out the entire season.
