This year, the young man who will represent Spain at Mister Mundo 2024 is Tony Company. The young man, with his participation in the beauty pageant, wants to give visibility to ataxia, a degenerative disease that his mother suffers from. “In a matter of a few years, you begin to lose your balance, you have difficulty speaking, you lose mobility to the point of ending up in a chair and you have problems with food because you choke,” he explains in conversation with ABC. Thus, he assures that he has managed to see the positive in the negative: «At first, I saw it as a bitch, but I have realized that if you had asked me at some point in my life if I would prefer to live 50 years fully or 80 without being knowing nothing, I would have preferred the first option. This has made me see that being alive is a gift.
Furthermore, Tony Company believes that if someone has a “pretty face,” “they should use it to do something positive and improve the world. Even if it’s just a little bit. For this reason, he believes that his strong point in bringing the title to Spain is his mission: «It makes me bring out a strength that I didn’t even imagine I had. I would give my life for this. I feel capable of anything to defend him. “That’s my strength, that ability I have to endure everything they throw at me.”
What will the mechanics be like?
This edition, which is the eleventh of the contest, will have 67 candidates, of which only 20 will make it through the first eliminatory cut. That twenty will be made up of the six winners of the qualifying tests – top model, talent, social project, sport, face to face and multimedia -, four of the popular vote – the most voted from each continent: Africa, America and the Caribbean, Europe, Asia and Oceania – and another 10 that will be chosen by the members of the jury – there will have to be at least two per continent. After this phase, ten will continue fighting for the crown: the one who has received the most votes from the public and nine who will qualify thanks to the jury’s decision – there must also be a minimum of two per continental group. Finally, four – one from each continent – will advance to the final round, from which the winner will emerge.
What time does the Mister Mundo gala start and how long does it last?
As planned, the broadcast will begin at one noon Spanish time -at seven in the afternoon in Vietnam- and will have, approximately, a duration of three hours.
