A “large portion” of the southern terminal at Gatwick Airport, south of London, has been evacuated as a precaution while an unspecified “security incident” is investigated.
As the airport, the second busiest in the United Kingdom, has published on its social network account X, passengers will not be able to enter that terminal while the incident is resolved.
“We are working hard to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. The safety of our passengers and our staff remains our top priority,” the aerodrome stated in the message.
Likewise, all travelers have been asked to check with the airlines about the status of their planned flights.
As reported by the BBC, all train services stopping at Gatwick are not stopping at that station and will continue not to do so for at least an hour.
According to the same source, buses bound for the airport no longer have access to the facilities either.
