The number of fatalities recorded due to DANA and the subsequent floods that affected the province of Valencia remains at 221 this Friday, while that of missing has been reduced to fiveaccording to the latest official balance from the Data Integration Center (CID).
All victims have undergone autopsy and they are fully identified, according to the CID update at 8 p.m. this Friday, November 22.
Compared to yesterday’s balance, Thursday, in the last 24 hours no body has been received in the Institute of Legal Medicine of Valencia (IML), but the forensic experts have performed one more autopsy and there are two new identifications.
These two identifications are those of the two last fatalities, both womenlocated, one in Torrent, on Wednesday, and the other in the municipality of Sedaví (not in the La Torre neighborhood, in Valencia, as had initially been computed), yesterday, Thursday.
These two deceased people were until now listed as missing.so after his identification the number of active ante-mortem files for disappearance has dropped from seven to five.
Of the total number of fatalities recorded so far, 171 have been identified by fingerprints, 46 by DNA analysis and four others were identified in hospitals when they were admitted alive.
Forensic Office
The CID is a technical body which is made up of a Forensic Office and an Office of the State Security Forces and Corps, with specialized agents from the Civil Guard and the National Police, and its main function is to gather and supervise the different identification reports carried out by the different institutions to people who died in events with multiple victims, by virtue of RD 32/2009.
This center is the only one empowered by that Royal Decree to publicly provide official figures to the media, through the Communication Office of the Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Communityrelating to the forensic medical and scientific police treatment of the event.
According to official data, the majority of confirmed fatalities belong to the Valencian Community, and the rest are from Castilla-La Mancha (seven) and Andalusia (one).
