The illuminated streets They have become a great attraction and joy of Christmas and if years ago many went to the center of Barcelona to enjoy these endearing landscapes, now there are more and more alternatives to enjoy Christmas lights. Following in the footsteps of Vigo, which in recent years has become very famous for its decoration on these dates, Badalona A year ago it insisted on being one of the great capitals of Christmas.
To achieve this, the council led by Xavier García-Albiol (PP) opted a year ago to install, among other elements, an extraordinary illuminated Christmas tree. The City Council defended that it was the highest in all of Spain, although the issue remained unclear since there were other competitors (such as Vigo or the Nevada shopping center in Granada), but the issue served to generate a lot of interest and, most importantly, provide a reason to visit the city.
Now, a year later, Badalona repeats the plan and will once again have a monumental tree, in this case more than 42 meters high and 15 in diameter, which the City Council once again assures is the tallest in Spain. Be that as it may, the installation is larger than last year, when it was 40 meters: it will have 100,000 LED light points and will offer a great lighting and musical show.
Tree lighting location and time
The tree is located, like last year, in the President Tarradellas Square in front of the Palau Olímpic and will open its lights, for the first time, this Saturday 23 in the afternoon. Starting at 5:30 p.m. there will be an event with music and entertainment and around 7 p.m. the enormous structure will be lit for the first time.
One day before, the City Council will open the lights in the city. Badalona wants to shine for its christmas spirit and for this reason it will install decoration with more than a million LED lights in more than a hundred streets, where it will also place some 140 decorative elements. Among the novelties, the premiere of 16 figures stands out, some of them passable, as well as lighting on the seafront or Via Augusta.
He street lighting will be released on Friday the 22nd at 6 p.m.: starting at 5:30 p.m. in Plaza de la Vila, where there is another important Christmas tree for the city, a party will be held. That same day the Christmas gastronomic fair will open on the Rambla del Gorg. Badalona also celebrates these dates with the launch of successful activities such as the Santa Claus House, the Royal Camp or the long-awaited arrival of the Three Wise Men at the Municipal Stadium and their subsequent parade.
Public transportation to visit the tree
Those interested in visiting the monumental tree have their great ally in public transport that connects with Badalona. There are several ways to get to Plaza Tarradellas, being the Metro the best option since next to that same square is the Gorg stop (Line 2 and Line 10 Nord). You can also use the tramwhose lines T5 and T6 end precisely in Gorg.
On the other hand, there are buses metropolitan buses that stop in the area: the B25, which starts or ends in Plaza Urquinaona in Barcelona, is one of the best located and the TMB line H10, which crosses the entire capital, also leaves relatively close by. In any case, applications like Moovit can be of great help to plan the journey until there.
