The agreement involves an investment of 15 million euros in energy infrastructure, with a total installed power of 12 megawatts (MW) and will guarantee the energy supply, both thermal and electrical, necessary for the start-up of a pellet production plant in Pedrafita do Cebreiro (Lugo), which will be one of the three largest in the countrywith a capacity of 60,000 tons per year.
Both groups estimated that the project will reduce emissions of 19,200 tons of CO2 per yearcontributing significantly to the reduction of greenhouse gases.
This is the first ‘PPA’ (long-term energy purchase and sale) of this type. signed in Spainwith a collaboration model that guarantees long-term energy stability for sustainable industrial projects such as Talentya, through efficient and safe planning in energy terms.
The energy infrastructure will allow the production of 12 MW for the drying of biomass for the manufacture of pellets, in addition to supplying electrical energy through an ORC (Organic Rankine Cycle) turbine to renewable electricity generation.
This project stands out for its disruptive and innovative approach, since it is based on the principles of industry 4.0 and the circular economyand has been declared IEP (Priority Business Initiative by the Xunta de Galicia in January 2024.
Role model
This agreement represents a model to follow in the renewable energy industry in Spain, since it reinforces the commitment to sustainable use of forest resourceswhile aligning with the objectives of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR) of the Government of Spain and the European Union.
