Cuenca is one of the most beautiful cities in Spain, it was founded by the arabs in the 8th century and currently continues to preserve some historical monuments and buildings, such as the historic walled area, its ruins of medieval castles and its famous Hanging Houses. This city is located on the Júcar and Huécar rivers, surrounded by surprising nature, where you can go on a family hiking route.
This tour has 9 kilometers with a duration of approximately 2 hours and 50 minutes. It is accessible for children, but not for people with reduced mobility. It is ideal to do in spring and autumn, when the trees take on different shades.
The tour begins at Old Wall of Cuencaalthough you can also start from Puerta de Valencia, in the Los Tiradores neighborhood. Close to both places there is a parking lot where it is possible to leave the car. From there you have to descend a slight slope and cross the St. Paul’s Bridgeone of the emblems of the city.
Next we will continue descending until we reach the old part of the city. Walking about 500 meters we can see the ruined house of the Cuenca poet Federico Muelas. From here you can see some incredible views of the Hoz del Huécar. If we continue descending, we will reach the Mirador del Barrio del Castillo, where we will enter nature.
You have to go down some stairs that are at the viewpoint. We will walk approximately two kilometers until we enter the heart of nature, which will allow us enjoy the Hoz del Huécar and Júcar.

The car journey from Madrid To Cuenca is approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes on the A-3 and A-40 highways.
