It was 15 minutes after 11 in the morning when the reborn man emerged from box number 17 of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya with his red motorcycle. Marc Márquez inaugurated his new era as an official Ducati rider on the first day of preseason testing in 2025.
The Cervera rider, who arrived at the garage at 9:48 a.m., got on a prototype of the Desmosedici which is an embryo of the GP25, the black leg of Borgo Panigale with which he will race next year alongside Pecco Bagnaia.
Before about 2,000 spectators in the stands of Montmeló and a cloud of photographers, cameras and journalists, an expectation similar to that of when he got on the Ducati for the first time in the Cheste tests a year ago, Márquez captured all eyes. He wore a completely red jumpsuit, a red helmet with the number 93, with no trace of his sponsors, such as Red Bull (incompatible with Ducati’s sponsor, the energy company Monster Energy).
The Cervera rider, who plans to test the new 2025 mount without going through the 2024 one carried by Bagnaia and Martín, completed a first session of 5 laps in which he already set the sixth provisional time. Marc was 6 tenths behind his brother Àlex, who set the best time of the morning.
Previously, the multiple champion posted an inaugural video of his new stage on his social networks, in which he postulated his bet: “Everything in the red,” he wrote on his account.
It was a day of debuts in the Montmeló preseason tests. Jorge Martín, the new champion, debuted with the Aprilia (with two stars on the fairing); Fermín Aldeguer from Murcia, from Moto2, made his debut with the Ducati Gresini as a partner of Àlex Márquez; the Pramac team inaugurated its stage with Yamaha; Maverick Viñales moves from Aprilia to KTM. Aleix Espargaró also made his debut as a Honda HRC tester.
