The Government gives in ‘in extremis’ and promises its left-wing partners to extend the energy tax so that their tax reform does not fall

Last-minute twist in the crazy negotiation of the Government’s tax reform. After more than five and a half hours of debate and voting, and when the law seemed lost, ERC, EH Bildu and the BNG announced around 11:00 p.m. an agreement with the Ministry of Finance in which the Executive agrees to do what that he had been rejecting for weeks: the extension of the tax on extraordinary profits of energy companies beyond December 31. It remains to be seen, however, that this agreement in extremis will help the Government so that its tax reform is not overturned this Monday, since Junts agreed with the Treasury to eliminate this tax and has repeatedly refused to accept any change in that agreement.
