The Minister of the Presidency, Justice, Security and Administrative Simplification, Isabel Urrutia, and the mayor of Molledo, Joaquín Villegas, have recently held a meeting in which they analyzed the scope of the Administrative Simplification Law project – approved by the Cantabrian Government and submitted to Parliament – which also will benefit the administrative activity carried out by local administrations. As reported by the Government in a press release, this meeting has served to study the needs of the municipality, which focus on undertaking different improvements in municipal services.
Among other issues, the future law extends the responsible declaration as tool to reduce procedures to a minimumthrough which the interested party realizes that he or she meets all the requirements and the green light is thus given at the beginning of the activity or the opening of a certain establishment.
IMPORTANCE
For his part, the mayor has highlighted the importance of this legal figure for “encourage economic activity and employment in towns”given that, as he has given as an example, people can wait up to six months to start a livestock activity due to the “multiple permits and licenses that are necessary.” For this reason, he considered that the future Administrative Simplification Law will introduce a system that “will greatly facilitate the administrative tasks of the town councils.” Likewise, the councilor has said that “we have collaborating certification entities or directly the City Council will be able to exercise it.” “I think it will make our work a lot easier,” he remarked.
During the meeting with Urrutia, the first mayor requested his support for the purchase of a vehicle that facilitates the operation of municipal services. As he explained, the municipality has 70 square kilometers, 11 population centers and the municipal vehicles are “very old.” In this regard, he has demanded that the counselor expedite the new call for regional aid that covers the purchase of this type of vehicles from the municipalities.
CIVIL DEFENSE
In terms of civil protection, Villegas has been interested in expanding the network of hydrants in the municipality to increase the capacity to respond to fires in the towns.
Likewise, he has shown his interest in installing defibrillators in different strategic points to treat cardiac arrests, a first attention that “saves lives and is very necessary until the arrival of medical services,” he stressed.
