As the DANA nightmare in Valencia recedes in time, the political anger caused by the management of the catastrophe intensifies, with PP and PSOE throwing accusations about how both parties are reacting to the event.
This Saturday, the deputy secretary of Autonomous, Local Coordination and Electoral Analysis of the PP, Elías Bendodo, has demanded that the PSOE “give explanations and acknowledge mistakes” that the central government has committed in the management of DANA.
At an event in Huelva, Bendodo said that on the other hand, the Valencian president, Carlos Mazón, “has always been at the forefront and has shown his face, he has recognized mistakes because we are all human and now we hope that the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, show your face.”
“He didn’t give it in Paiporta, He ran away and left the king there.; to give explanations, to stop fleeing from the Congress of Deputies, he did not go to the control session last week and to appear voluntarily,” Bendodo added.
“The Government of Spain has a lot to explain, a lot to explain about its management of DANA and to recognize errors; the proud do not recognize mistakesbut Sánchez should do it because we are like this because they have a negligent Government,” said the PP politician.
Bendodo has recalled that the Government has a vice president who is not there, who is responsible for the basin, for the flooding in the ravine, for the geographical confederation of Júcar, she is Vice President Teresa Ribera, that when this happened “she was in Brussels trying to be a commissioner, leaving aside her responsibilities in Spain.”
“Sanchez has to give a lot of explanations, recognize mistakes and that we Spaniards know what has happenedthat is the reality,” said the deputy secretary of Autonomous Coordination of the PP.
This DANA “fundamentally will go down in history for one sentence, I think it is undignified for a president of the Government to say ‘If you need help, ask for it’, “That phrase will accompany Pedro Sánchez throughout his political career and after he is expelled from politics, because he will be.”
“It is unworthy, people drowning and the President of the Government saying: If they need help, ask for it”, he concluded.
The PSOE asks the PP to dismiss Mazón
For her part, this Saturday, the general secretary of the PSPV, Diana Morant, has demanded that the PP “assume its responsibility”, take a “step forward” and dismiss Carlos Mazón from the Presidency of the Generalitat Valenciana, because “he has to go” and “he cannot lead the reconstruction.”
Morant has said that if Feijóo does not bring down the president of the Generalitat “he will be supporting Mazón and not the Valencians”and recalled that the PSOE has offered its votes to appoint a president technical profile.
The leader of the Valencian PSOE has warned the PP that “silence” will not last forever, and maintains that if Genoa does not respond to the PSPV-PSOE proposal they will interpret it as “tacit support” for Mazón, like the national PP “is also erased from the solution and responsibility” and like Feijóo “ties his future” to that of the Valencian leader.
“The unacceptable thing about Mazón’s appearance is that he did not present his resignation; he cannot continue, it is a popular cry,” said Diana Morant, who added that the Valencians did not feel “at all comforted” with an appearance in which they did not responded “what did he do” when his neighbors “were drowning.”
Diana Morant has reproached Mazón for “blaming the system” and saying that it has failed, when “the one who has failed” is him, and has insisted that “from now on” there cannot be a president “anti-system and failed”but “he has to go, because everything cannot continue as if nothing had even happened.”
“We are no longer addressing Mr. Mazón, we are addressing the PP of the Valencian Community and the national PP,” said Morant after the president is “decided not to leave.” Socialist politics has demanded that the popular be “rise to the occasion” and respond to the PSOE’s offer.
