Ten residents died and one in critical condition is the first balance of a fire declared this morning in the Jardines de Villafranca nursing home, in Villafranca de Ebro (Zaragoza).
At the time of the fire, declared at 5 in the morning, there were 82 people in the residence, as reported by the Government of Aragon.
There are firefighters from the Zaragoza City Council, the Civil Guard, Civil Protection volunteers, psychologists, social workers and health personnel from 061, as well as medical personnel from the Alfajarín and Fuentes de Ebro health centers.
Likewise, the Royo Villanova, Miguel Servet and Clínico Universitario hospitals have been alerted. The Minister of the Interior of the Aragonese Government, Roberto Bermúdez de Castro, and the manager of the Aragonese Institute of Social Services (IASS), Ángel Val, are currently moving to the residence.
