ING’s decision to withdraw advertising from Cuarto Millennium and Horizonte, the two programs presented by Iker Jiménez on Mediaset, has provoked the anger of some users on social networks, encouraging the bank’s clients to close their accounts. The bank has denied that it is suffering a massive withdrawal of money as is being discussed on social networks.
Some users are expressing themselves through social networks under the hashtag #AdiosIngDirect, which is a trending topic on X, leaving comments against the decision of this entity due to the measure it has taken.
Mediaset has experienced similar situations years ago, first with La Noria, which ended up being removed from Telecinco’s programming after running out of advertisements, and then Big Brother, which also suffered a similar disbandment as a result of the ‘Carlota Prado case’.
The entity has today suffered accusations that it was preventing operations for clients who wanted to close savings accounts. From ING they have explained to elEconomista.es that it is an “absolute hoax and clients “have been able to operate without complications.” They have also denied that they have detected a significant number of account closures: “The information is completely false.”
ING yesterday made a statement in which it explained that the entity has a “media strategy in which we decide weekly planning taking into account current events, based on it we buy the different advertising spaces based on what we consider best for positioning of our brand”.
“Therefore, the decision to withdraw ING advertising from a program, network or medium is made based on different factors such as content or commercial strategy, and in no case is it related to specific programs or presenters,” he added.
And he added: “For this reason, after the controversy generated in recent days in a very sensitive social context, we decided to modify our advertising grid.”
