DANA is dumping heavy rains across the entire Balearic Islands, although the situation is expected to worsen during the night and early morning, as explained by the delegate of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) in the Islands. María José Guerrero, who insists that the forecasts remain as those announced until now.

According to him, about 14 liters have been recorded in Lluc and about 11 in Son Torrella. More modest records have also been recorded in Sóller, Portocolom or Petra, always below 10 liters per square meter. In any case, the forecast is that the situation will worsen in the coming hours, which is why, in the case of Mallorca, the orange alert has been extended to the northern area. Thus, only the interior of the island remains on yellow alert. The orange alert will be in effect until noon tomorrow, Wednesday.

In Ibiza, one of the areas that has flooded has been the airport. Diario de Ibiza also reports flooding in Ses Salines, from the center of Vila to the area of ​​sa Blanca Dona, on the coast of Santa Eulària, in the north of the island and in some sections of the Sant Antoni and Santa Eulària roads. .

Flooding has also occurred in areas such as Sant Joan de Labritja avenue. According to this newspaper, the heavy rains have caused many streets in Vila to be flooded at midday and the water has reached the height of the vehicle doors in the first belt.

Mallorca, Ibiza and Formentera are on orange alert this Tuesday due to DANA and heavy rains that could discharge up to 40 liters per square meter in one hour and up to 100 liters in 12 hours. In the case of Menorca, the warning is yellow.

The orange warning has been activated for the Pitiüses this morning and will be in force until noon this Wednesday, according to information from the State Meteorological Agency. In the case of Mallorca, the orange alert was activated at 08:00 for the Serra de Tramuntana in the south of the island and will be extended to the eastern area in the afternoon. It will also be valid until 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Given this scenario, Severity Index 1 (IG1) of the Special Plan remains activated to address the risk of adverse meteorological phenomena (Meteobal) and the operational situation (SO) 0 of Inunbal.

In general terms, Aemet predicts for this Tuesday a cold entry from the north accompanied by the approach to the northeast of the peninsula of a DANA (Isolated Depression at High Levels) that will leave a situation of instability in the north and east of the peninsula, as well as in the Balearic Islands. By area, there will be rainfall with a storm and a tendency to increase in the Cantabrian environment, the upper Ebro, northern Iberia, the Pyrenees, the coasts of the eastern façade, the Strait and the Balearic archipelago.
