WhatsApp is the most used messaging application in the world. The Meta-owned service has managed to maintain this position thanks to the integration of various functions that promise to make life easier for its more than 2 billion subscribers. One of the most useful tools is known as “Drafts”. At WIRED en Español we tell you what it is for and how to use this resource.
The app enabled this possibility for some time in its adaptation to web. Now it has begun to deploy it in its mobile versions. The option allows users to write a message, abandon it, and return to it later to modify it before sending it. The alternative can be used both in chats individuals as well as groups. Only supports text or audio notes.
The feature is enabled by default. Those interested in using it should only write or record a publication, not send it and exit the dialogue window. The system will automatically store and mark the material with the “Draft” label. The legend will be highlighted within the list of conversations that appears on the WhatsApp home page. Users have the ability to send, edit or delete the message. Backups can be consulted from any device linked to an account. You can only create one draft per chat.
The novelty is designed for people who need to disseminate information that is generated in real time and requires editing, as well as for those who do not have a stable internet connection to send the information instantly.
Meta has shown its intentions to transform WhatsApp into something more than a simple instant messaging application. The company led by Mark Zuckerberg has nurtured the popular service to turn it into a basic personal assistant for users. In recent months, it enabled the Events function that allows you to manage all kinds of celebrations through pre-existing groups and communities. “Guests will find the event on the group information page and participants will receive an automatic notification when the date approaches,” according to the firm.
The organization has reinforced its proposal with the integration of multiple tools powered by artificial intelligence (AI). In July it launched Meta AI, an automated assistant that is capable of conversing, generating images, delivering information in real time and managing subscribers’ agendas through text requests. WhatsApp is also working on the development of a new feature that will allow users to create avatars of themselves with AI that can be used as a profile photo, in statuses and within virtual chats.
