PODCAST | New development: spacious, with views, floodable

In Spain there are many homes and all types of constructions built on flood-prone soils, most of them are in the Mediterranean provinces, although not only there. In addition to everything already built in areas at risk of flooding, there are a multitude of urban projects, from semi-detached houses, to hotels, museums and large infrastructures, planned for areas that may be flooded due to flooding of rivers, ravines and torrents. They are spread throughout the geography, from coastal areas to inland territories.

With Pau Rodríguez, a journalist from elDiario.es in Catalonia, we better understand how some of these projects end up going ahead despite being planned in areas classified as flood-prone. With Javier Ayuso, from Castilla y León; and Alfonso Alba, director of Córdopolis, we approach two real estate projects where the construction of thousands of homes is planned on land declared floodable.
