The agreement between Barça and Nike for the renewal of the contract between the club and the sports firm is total. The North American company has given its approval in the last few hours to the pact between the two parties, as this newspaper has learned. In fact, according to sources close to the brand, they intend to make the agreement public and official imminently, possibly throughout this Saturday.
This Friday Joan Laporta met his board electronically to explain the bases of the agreement and the board ratified an agreement that in the best of cases would lead to Barcelona receiving around 1.7 billion euros until 2038. The objective for the What the Barcelona team has been negotiating was to improve the current relationship, which extends until 2028, and extend it for ten more years, going from a contract that reports 60 million per year to another of around 100 million per year. The agreement stipulates a renewal bonus that is valued at 100 million euros. According to Barça, there are many improvements for the entity in the new pact. It fundamentally consists of two master parts, or what is the same, two payment tranches. In the first, which runs from now until 2028, about 48 more will be added to the current 60 million for a total of 108 million annually. Subsequently and until 2038 there will be an improvement that will range between 58 and 60 million over the current 60. The renewal premium of 100 million is included in both tranches.
The agreement comes after a few months of tension between the parties, with demands and threats from the club to sign with another company or create its own brand. In this sense, it is worth remembering that President Laporta exclaimed at the end of March that they were considering unilaterally terminating the contract
Nike responded by filing a series of injunctions. And he came out on top because in mid-July the Provincial Court of Barcelona ruled him right. Barça could neither terminate the contract nor should it negotiate with third parties. Now everything has been channeled. Only the officialdom remains.
