Javier Amezaga will be the vice president and general director of the equipment division of Corporación Mondragon starting February 1, 2025. This division is made up of 10 cooperatives, including Orbea, which total 1,500 jobs and a turnover of 700 million euros.
Javier Amezaga Salazar has been appointed new vice president of Mondragon and general director of the equipment division. This area of activity is made up of the cooperatives Dikar, Ederfil-Becker, Eredu, Gerodan, Hertell, Mccgraphics, Oiarso, Orbea, Osatu and Urola.
This is one of the most heterogeneous divisions in Mondragon’s industrial field, as it integrates a wide range of activities aimed at various sectors. It currently employs nearly 1,500 people, with a sales volume in 2024 exceeding 700 million of euros, of which 83% corresponds to international sales.
Javier Amezaga will replace Juan Ángel García, who begins a new professional stage after eight years at the head of the division. Amezaga (Santurtzi, Bizkaia, 1967), is industrial engineer from the University of the Basque Country and has completed three master’s degrees (Comprehensive Logistics, at the Catalan Institute of Logistics; in Cooperative Companies, at the Otalora Training Center; and an Executive in Business Administration and Management, at Esade). Likewise, he is certified in the Counselors program, from the IC-A Institute of Counselors and Administrators.
His professional career has been linked to Grupo Eroskiwhere he has held different positions and responsibilities, highlighting his periods as Director of Logistics, General Director of Caprabo, and General Director of the Eroski Group itself.
In these years he has directed numerous transformation processes that have involved thousands of people and has led various strategic reflection processes. Currently, Amezaga was serving as corporate director of Eroski, also presiding over the boards of directors of three of the main subsidiaries of his organization and, since 2015, being a member of the Permanent Commission of Mondragon.
Besides, is in charge of coordinating the Erkop Groupwhich includes four cooperatives: Ausolan, Barrenetxe, Behi Alde and Miba. Amezaga will begin his mandate as head of the equipment division on February 1, 2025.
