WIRED: What challenges have you faced in becoming the first creator to use the feature? Watch With for an event of this type?
Robin Grill: The biggest challenge is that it is a completely new format. We’ve been in constant contact with YouTube and the NFL to better understand how it works. They’ve given us freedom to experiment, so let’s make the most of it.
WIRED: Do you plan to cook during the broadcast? What kind of dynamics can your followers expect?
Robegrill: Yes, there will definitely be a kitchen. We will prepare several dishes throughout the game, although since the game is at 8:30 am, we will make a breakfast menu. We want it to be a unique experience, like a barbecue day watching the NFL, but live.
WIRED: How do you think initiatives like this, which combine sports and content creators, will change the way we consume sports on platforms like YouTube?
Robegrill: I think it’s a great step for YouTube and the NFL. Streaming platforms are growing in the sports field, and this is a way to connect fans with creators. I am sure we will see many more initiatives like this in the future.
WIRED: How do you see the future of sports broadcasting? What role will content creators play?
Robegrill: Sports is one of the genres that is still seen a lot on television, but the future is in streaming platforms. We creators have the opportunity to connect with these broadcasts and make them even more accessible and personalized for new audiences.
WIRED: You’ve mentioned the importance of community in your content. How do you think this broadcast will connect your followers with NFL fans?
Robegrill: It’s going to be interesting because we’re going to have NFL fans, food fans, and fans of other creators who can join in. We want to find the balance between both worlds and connect with each, whether through the NFL or food.
WIRED: How do you prepare for an event of this magnitude in technical and equipment terms? What has been the most exciting part of this experience?
Robegrill: It’s been quite a challenge, especially the production side. It’s almost like editing live, making cuts and changing takes. We’ve worked as a team to make sure everything goes well, and I’m very excited to see the result.
WIRED: How do you feel this project will impact your career as a content creator?
Robegrill :I think it can open a lot of doors, especially in the area of live broadcasts and sports content. If we can generate value in this transmission, it could be a big step for Robegrill.
