The gross domestic product (GDP) of the Principality of Asturies grew by 3.1 percent year-on-year in the third quarter, three tenths below the national average, according to the estimate published this Wednesday by the Independent Authority for Fiscal Responsibility (AIReF). .
In a quarter-on-quarter rate, the Asturian economy advanced 0.9 percent, one tenth above the country’s average.
The Canary Islands (with 4.3%) and the Balearic Islands (with 4.1%) lead GDP growth at the end of the third quarter, according to the (AIReF) estimate, in which Castilla y León (3.7% ) exceeds Catalonia and Aragon (3.5%).
The same as the national average (3.4%), always in annual terms, four communities are located: Navarra, La Rioja, Madrid and the Valencian Community; and just below the Basque Country (3.3%).
Next are Galicia and Murcia (both with 3.2%), Asturias (3.1%) and Cantabria (3.0%); while Castilla-La Mancha, Andalusia and Extremadura close the list, all three with a GDP increase of 2.9%.
In quarterly figures, the Balearic Islands (1.1%) and the Valencian Community (1.0%) lead the growth, followed by the Basque Country, Cantabria, Asturias and Madrid (0.9% in each case).
Six communities equal the national average (0.8%): La Rioja, Catalonia, Castilla y León, Navarra, the Canary Islands and Extremadura; and the remaining five remain at 0.7%: Aragón, Galicia, Murcia, Castilla-La Mancha and Andalusia.
The AIReF combines three types of statistical information to obtain these estimates: the monthly data on economic situation indicators disaggregated at the territorial level, the annual data compiled in terms of national accounting by the Regional Accounting of Spain (CRE) and, finally, the estimates for the national set published by the Quarterly National Accounting (CNTR).
