Ahu Daryaei, the iranian student who stripped naked in public on Saturday in protest at a Tehran university has been transferred to a “specialized care center”as stated this Wednesday by the Iranian embassy in Paris.
«The student in question suffers psychological fragility and has been transferred in an emergency social services ambulance to a specialized care center,” he said in a statement, without giving more details about the nature of the center.
In recent days there has been increasing concern about the whereabouts and well-being of the young woman. Activists fear that authorities could confine her to a psychiatric institution.
The organization Amnesty International affirms that the Ahu Daryaei “took off her clothes to protest against the abusive application of the mandatory use of the veil by security agents” at the university.
The Iranian government spokesmanFatemé Mohajerani said this Tuesday in an interview with the Ham Mihan portal that they were trying to “resolve the situation of this student, who is a person with problems.”
Mohajerani also highlighted that the young woman’s ex-husband had published a video in which he stated that the student “needs treatment”. “We have to see what the authorities do,” he said, while insisting that the university itself had stated that he was suffering from psychological problems.
Mohajerani’s words come after the video about his detention and that the spokesperson for the educational center, Amir Mahjob, stated on Saturday on the social network psychological.
In recent months, the Iranian authorities have tightened the application of the dress code that requires women to wear veils and loose clothing, after massive protests following the death in September 2022 of the young Kurdish woman. Mahsa Amini after being arrested for allegedly wearing the veil incorrectly.
