The rain this Wednesday keeps four communities in the eastern peninsula on yellow alert (risk) due to rainfall that will accumulate between 15-30 liters per square meter in one hour, according to the Meteorology Agency (AEMET) on its website. The communities on alert are Aragón, Catalunya, Comunitat Valenciana and Illes Balears.
The Balearic Islands have a yellow warning in Menorca due to accumulations of 30 liters in one hour, and locally 50 liters in 12 hours, while in Mallorca the area most affected by rainfall will be the Tramontana mountain range and the southern area, where 20 liters are expected in one hour.
All the provinces of Catalonia are in yellow due to rain, 20 liters in one hour, which in the case of Girona could be accompanied by a storm, while in Aragon only the Pyrenees of Huesca is under a warning due to rainfall of up to 15 liters in one hour.
In the Valencian Community, the AEMET has activated the yellow alert on the northern coast of the province of Alicante and on the southern coast of Valencia due to rain – with probable storms – that will leave 20 liters in one hour.
In Andalusia, the province of Cádiz has a yellow alert for Levante winds of 50 to 61 km/h (force 7) to the west of the Strait and out to sea south of Trafalgar.
AEMET warns that with the yellow alert there is no meteorological risk for the population in general, although there is for some specific activities.
