The general director of Fire Prevention, Rosa Touris, has reported on the latest work that is being carried out on the ground, after the last meeting of the Cecopi (Integrated Operational Coordination Center), in which The president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, and the minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, Ángel Víctor Torres, participated. Touris has noted that work is being done at different paces depending on the impact that DANA has had in each of the three areas into which the operation has been subdivided.
In the Ribera Alta and Ribera Baja regions, work continues on the removal of belongings and, shortly, a return to normality is foreseeable. While in the Requena-Utiel area, the works to restore infrastructure and cleaning are being completed.
In the L’Horta Sud area, the range of execution of emergency tasks, depending on the degree of impact of each municipality, is between 20 and 50%, as detailed by those responsible for the operation during the meeting. This area is still in the search phase for possible victims, for which drones are also being used, especially in the area of the Magro River and Rambla del Poyo. This search is complemented by canine tracking units.
Organization coordination
Touris has stressed that all the organizations represented in Cecopi “want to thank the coordination of all the security, emergency and armed forces that are participating in the different sectors of the operation, as well as the volunteers.” Meanwhile, he said, the search for possible victims continues to be a priority and other actions are being addressed such as the removal of waste, belongings and vehicles, drainage of water, review of building structures, channels, roads and railways, as well as facilities. distribution of water, electricity and gas.
In addition, it has also been reported that 98% of the electrical service has already been restored and that 93% of the affected population now has a water supply. However, as a precaution, Cecopi “until all microbiological analyzes are carried out”, recommends the use of bottled water for human consumption, but the rest can be used for cleaning.
Regarding the removal of belongings and mud, a special plan for the removal of belongings both from the roads and from the public as well as collection places where the material is stored before sending it to landfills and treatment plants with the intention of returning to normality as soon as possible.
In this sense, Cecopi has agreed to create local work groups in which the city councils, the Provincial Council, the Generalitat and the General State Administration will participate to accelerate the removal of the material.
Forces on the ground
On the other hand, the general director recalled that, on the ground, more than 1,700 firefighters from 42 organizations and 6,700 soldiers are deployed, whose number will increase to 7,800 in the coming hours. In the field of citizen security, there are currently a total of 6,000 members of the National Police and the Civil Guard, more than 400 members of the different local police forces and more than a hundred agents of the Generalitat Police.
