The Amancio Ortega Foundation announced this Monday that it is making a fund worth 100 million euros available to the social services of the municipalities affected by DANA.
In a statement, the entity that bears the name of the founder of the Galician textile giant Inditex explains that The funds are to support citizens “in their most immediate needs”.
“The Foundation will work with the competent administrations so that aid is channeled to those affected in the most agile, fast and effective way,” he concludes.
For its part, Inditex, the group founded by Ortega, has made a donation of four million euros to the Spanish Red Cross and Cáritas Española, 2 million each, to help cover the basic needs of vulnerable or excluded people affected by DANA that has hit communities such as Valencia, Castilla-La Mancha or Andalusia, according to Both NGOs reported last week.
Inditex thus responded to the request transmitted by the third sector entities with which the textile company maintains a stable relationship, which have made a public call for the collaboration of companies and citizens to help those affected by DANA.
In addition, Inditex will help channel the voluntary contributions of its employees to both entities. The group has also made itself available to these organizations to contribute with clothing, footwear and household products depending on the evolution of the catastrophe.
Inditex dividends
In another order of things, The founder and first shareholder of Inditex will receive a total of 2,845 million euros in dividends this year of the company after collect 1,422.5 million euros this Monday for the last remuneration of the year that the Galician firm will pay to its shareholders.
Specifically, the businessman will receive more than 2.8 billion euros this year in dividends from the textile company, above the 2,217 million that he received for this concept last year.
In total, the company will reward its shareholders with around 4.8 billion euros this year, after raising the dividend by 28%, to 1.54 euros per share.
