Specifically, a team from the Emergency and Immediate Response group of the Community of Madrid (ERICAM), made up of 31 members of the Regional Fire Department and Summa112, left on Wednesday afternoon for the province of Valencia to help in the work of search and rescue in the face of the tragedy caused by DANA. The device also includes several water rescue specialists, five rescue boats, eight intervention vehicles and the Drone Unit.
A team from the Special Height Rescue Group (GERA) of the Community of Madrid Firefighters also left for Valencia at the request of the Generalitat to collaborate in the rescue and search for people. Fire inspector Luis Rincón explained on social media that a rescue helicopter with four professionals has left. It is a helicopter specialized in mountain rescue and high altitude rescue. «It is the resource that they requested from the Community of Valencia. They are now heading towards the municipality of Enguera and upon arrival they will contact the person responsible for the emergency who will assign them the work area to be able to carry out the necessary functions,” he explained.
The Lehendakari, Imanol Pradales, has reported that Euskadi is going to send two helicopters to the Valencian Community to collaborate in the rescue efforts. Pradales has conveyed solidarity and “absolute” willingness to help Valencians “in everything they need.” The Basque Government is “in permanent contact with the Generalitat of the Valencian Community,” said Pradales.
In the face of “a drama of such brutal characteristics”, the Lehendakari has shown his solidarity from Euskadi to the Valencian Community, which “is being the most affected”, and also the rest of the communities, and in a special way “with the victims and their families, who are the ones suffering the devastating consequences of this DANA.
Adrián Barbón, president of Asturias, has indicated that a helicopter, a pilot and two rescue firefighters from the Principality are already working in the Valencian Community in rescue and evacuation work in the areas affected by DANA.
The Galician president, Alfonso Rueda, has announced, after establishing contact with his counterparts in Valencia and Castilla-La Mancha, that he will make available one of the two helicopters that the Xunta de Galicia has for rescue tasks. The helicopter will go to the Levante area affected by DANA to collaborate in the rescue tasks.
From Catalonia, the president of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, has also confirmed that he has made “all the troops” that Catalonia has available to the affected autonomous communities if those areas needed them to face the catastrophic consequences of the storm. Illa communicated this during a plenary session in the Parliament of Catalonia, ensuring that this Tuesday he already maintained communication with the Valencian, La Mancha and Andalusian presidents to offer them any help they need.
