The General Council of Attorneys of Spain has requested the immediate suspension of all the signs planned for the coming days in the judicial districts affected by the damage, as well as in adjacent ones, as a preventive measure to guarantee the safety of all citizens and professionals of the legal field, due to the devastating effects produced, which has had a strong impact on the Valencian Community and other areas of the Levant and given the recent request from the authorities to avoid non-essential travel.
This institution has sent this request to the Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Courts, to the President of the General Council of the Judiciary, to the Attorney General of the State and to the representatives of the institutions of the affected Autonomies, in order to coordinate a response that minimizes risks for all parties involved.
THE General Council also considers it essential to temporarily suspend all procedural deadlines in the affected territories, ensuring, in any case, the provision of essential services. In a note, it points out that the impossibility of safe travel and the difficulties in processing judicial notifications and filing of documents, both in person and electronically, carried out by attorneys in their professional practice, make this measure a necessity to protect the rights of individuals and guarantee the proper functioning of the Administration of Justice.
The members of the Executive Committee of this General Council, headed by its President, Ricardo Garrido Rodríguez, have conveyed their support and collaboration to the President of the Valencian Council of Attorneys and the Deans of the Colleges of Attorneys of Valencia and Albacete, showing their solidarity and making ourselves available to help as much as possible in alleviating the terrible effects produced by this natural disaster.
