The president of the Congress of Deputies, Francina Armengolhas decided to temporarily suspend the Government control session after the Popular Party’s request to cancel it permanently in solidarity with the victims of the DANA that hits the east of the peninsula and that already leaves more than 50 dead in the province of Valencia alone.
He has been the spokesperson for the PP in Congress, Miguel Telladowho has asked to speak to express that “the ideal would be to bring together the Board of Spokespersons” so that they all decide “to suspend the plenary session out of respect for the victims of the DANA that affects three Autonomous Communities and send a clear message: suspend the full and that the Government can go to work and to collaborate with the different administrations that are facing this crisis”.
After his intervention, the PSOE spokesperson in Congress took the floor, Patxi Lopezto say that they “agree.” “This is not the time for political confrontation in the tone in which we are having it.“.
Immediately afterwards, the president of Congress took up the witness and announced the temporary suspension of the plenary session to deliberate its definitive cancellation.
Before all this, the Lower House has observed a minute of silence for the victims of the DANA that has devastated several areas of Spain and to show its support for the public services that work to alleviate its effects. The session was being capitalized on by accusations of sexist violence against Sumar’s former spokesperson, Íñigo Errejón.
