The Valencian president confirms the discovery of “lifeless bodies” in the areas affected by DANA that have been accessible

The president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, has confirmed the discovery of “lifeless bodies” in those areas affected by DANA in the Valencian Community that were incommunicado and to which it has already been possible to access, and has explained that more fatalities will appear. , because there are still places that cannot be accessed, “with absolute inaccessibility”: “The night is going to be very long,” he noted.

The head of the Consell has also explained that rescues have occurred. However, “out of respect for the families”, he did not want to give more information about the identity of the deceased victims, or about the place where they were found.

Mazón has noted that the most affected area at the moment is the banks of the Túria River, although he wanted to reassure the population about the situation of the Forata dam, which he has assured is stabilized: “There is no danger.” Likewise, he has advised citizens who are in risk areas to look for high places “even if it is not raining at the moment.” “It will continue to rain in those regions that are in the upper parts of the riverbeds,” he warned.

Another point that he wanted to make clear is that the Emergency service, 112, has not fallen, “it is the only valid communication channel”, while highlighting the role that the mayors will play, “it will be fundamental”. However, he acknowledged that they have not yet been able to speak with some of the affected localities.

In the last few hours, 112 has responded to more than 10,000 calls and there have been hundreds of direct responses from emergency services.
