He Council of Ministers approved this Tuesday a royal decree by which the Government creates two new prosecutor’s offices room specials to pursue the corruption. Specifically, one dedicated to investigating economic crimes and another to crimes against public administration.
The Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Courts, Felix Bolañosexplained in the conference after the Council of Ministers this measure, which is part of the Action Plan for Democracy and which includes thirty measures to promote the transparency of public administrations and the media.

Both initiatives, Bolaños has defended, aim to “deepen the transparency of public institutions, reinforce the fight against corruption and protect those who report violations that affect the general interest”.
In the case of the royal decree relating to the Public Ministry, Bolaños has indicated that the two new special prosecutor’s offices (there are already 13), will depend on the State Attorney General’s Office and they will have assigned prosecutors. The objective will be to provide “greater specialization” to the work carried out by the Prosecutor’s Office to to be able to fight “more effectively against public and private corruption”.
79 new tax positions
The approved royal decree also contemplates the creation of 79 prosecutor positionsincluding six destined for gender violence in the specialized courts opened this year in Almería, Málaga, Dos Hermanas (Seville), Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, València and Pamplona.
Another two prosecutor positions of the 79 will be used to reinforce, as explained by the minister, two other prosecutors in Algeciras and Cadiz for the fight against crimes drug trafficking and bleaching of the field of Gibraltar, as explained by Bolaños.
The minister has assured that the reinforcement of the staff of prosecutors is in line with another royal decree approved in January of this year by which he elevated from category – from third to second – those prosecutors who carried out a job “that did not correspond to the responsibility they had.”
“This Government is with the Prosecutor’s Office to prosecute crime and for that we specialize assigned units and we do it to convert greater knowledge into the prosecution of crime and, of course, We create prosecutor positions where we believe they are essential“he stressed.
