New data center confirmed in Aragon. In this case, it is the project Ebro Campus promoted by Box2bit (Capital Energy investors) with a investment of 3,400 million euros in the town of Cariñenain Zaragoza.
This data center will be located in the Entreviñas Industrial Estate in this Aragonese town and will occupy 28 hectares on which they will be placed five buildings. The forecast is that begin construction in the last quarter of 2025 so that, at the end of 2029, the investment will be completed.
Box2bit, from the same owner as Capital Energyalready has a first permit from Red Eléctrica de España to have energy for this new infrastructure, which will be developed according to customer demand – it will house the facilities of other companies -, and the permits are available to access the energy supply .
According to the two data of the Campus Ebro projectit is estimated that they will be generated 1,950 direct jobs. Of them, a total of 1,604 will be related to the construction phase. During the operational phase, employment is estimated at 350 people.
The Box2bit data center is estimated to have a positive impact on the GDP of Aragonwhich will increase by 4.4 billion of euros. Currently, the Aragonese Gross Domestic Product is around 45,000 million euros.
The data center, with Spanish capital, “will reinforce Aragon’s position on the cloud map of Europe. A figure that could rise because, precisely, Box2bit has interest in promoting another data center in Calatayud (Zaragoza) with an investment similar to this announcement today for Cariñena and even a third party to complete its network, although the Aragonese Executive has not commented on these projects nor has the company officially commented today by not appearing at the press call, despite having held a meeting with members of the Government of Aragon.
