Specifically, he explained that two vehicles participated in the attack. “A car came to block us in front. “This is already an operation, I said,” he said in his program on the Kawsachun Coca radio station. First three shots were heard, before which Morales, who was traveling in the right front seat, crouched down and asked the driver, who did turn out. wounded, to accelerate.
One of the bullets hit one of the wheels. of the armored vehicle in which he was traveling, with the aim of stopping him, so they were forced to change vehicles. Morales has reported that since he was crouching he could not see the attackers, but they later told him that they were “hooded, completely black” men.
For Morales This is “a clear assassination attempt”since one of the bullets was aimed where he was and missed by a few centimeters. “Mother Earth has saved us,” he assured.
Morales has explained that one of his drivers has suffered injuries to the head and arm but “we finally saved our lives”without giving more details about his condition.
Accuses Arce
The former president, finally, accuses his former Minister of Economy and current president of the country, Luis Arce, of this assassination attempt.with whom he has had numerous clashes in recent months. Now Arce intends to “eliminate” him not only legally, morally and politically, but also attempts against his life. “Lucho went crazy,” he said.
However, “the government failed.” In any case, even if the assassination attempts were successful, the people will rise up. “This is not against Evo, it is against the indigenous movement,” he argued.
Morales has promised that he will continue with his “comrades” in the tropics despite these attacks. “I have not escaped. I have no reason to escape. I am not a criminal”he has argued.
Regarding speculation about the possible imposition of emergency measures in response to the blockades maintained by his supporters on the country’s roads, Evo has warned that “If there is a state of siege, we rise and break.”
Morales has also commented on the changes in the Military High Command established on Saturday night and has assured that they are due to the fact that “the commanders did not want to comply with the militarization until there is a formal order, which now it will be established by supreme decree.”
The indigenous leader has also denounced that they are mobilizing police forces towards Cochabamba, mainly towards the town of Lauca Ñ, for which he has asked the Six Federations of the Tropics to be attentive and prepare for “any attempted attack” by law enforcement.
