The spokesperson for EH Bildu in Congress, Mertxe Aizpurúa, has confirmed that her party has been negotiating the 2025 Budgets with the Ministry of Finance for a month and a half and is confident that these will be approved by January or February.
Specifically, Aizpurúa has explained that basically Budget negotiations that faltered in May have been resumed due to the resignation of the Executive to present a Budget project in 2024 before the electoral scenario in Catalonia.
Thus, the ‘abertzale’ spokesperson pointed out that Your group is already in “Budget mode” and he trusts that the deficit path, which the Government withdrew from parliamentary processing due to the lack of support, will be approved first, and then the General State Budgets (PGE), because he considers it “good for all citizens.”
“We hope there is an agreement on the issue of the deficit paththat this time that the Government has been giving itself to reach agreements with the rest of the groups is favorable and that this makes it possible to have good Budgets,” he added in statements to Parliament, from RNE, collected by Europa Press.
However, the deputy has said that although prefers to be “optimistic” and believes that an agreement can be reached for public accounts, “it does not take for granted” that Podemos supports the Budgetstaking into account that the ‘purple’ formation has consulted its bases if it conditions support for the Budgets on rents being lowered by 40% by law.
A request that Aizpurúa sees as “quite difficult to carry out as proposed.” “I don’t know if it has details or fine printbut that statement is certainly quite difficult,” he commented.
Regarding Togetherthe deputy has said that the position of Carles Puigdemont’s party varies depending on the situations and the moment, so she does not know what is going to happen with the Budgets, but has stressed that she is “optimistic” so that there are public accounts.
Regarding Bildu’s requests to the Government on budgetary matters, the deputy has said that They will not put “red lines” and they will make claims linked to social and territorial issues, with the aim of benefiting the different localities of Euskadi.
The deputy has also been asked her opinion of the appearance of the Minister of Housing, Isabel Rodríguez, last Wednesday, and Aizpurúa has said that could have waited “a little longer”“, because the measures he proposed from the platform, such as forever preventing social housing from being disqualified, were not “very surprising.”
In this sense, the representative has stressed that it is time for the Government to “do much more” in terms of housing, as this is a “pressing” problem that affects both youth and people’s capacity for family development. “Many more measures are needed,” he added.
Next, the representative stressed the importance of applying the Housing Law in all autonomous communities, since currently she says that it only applies in Catalonia and is proving to have “good results.”
Finally, the ‘abertzale’ has been questioned by Sumar’s criticism of the PSOE over the issue of housing while both parties are in the same Government. The spokesperson for EH Bildu has acknowledged that she finds the tone used by the plurinational group with the socialists “a little shocking”, but she believes that deep down Sumar “is right” when he calls for more things to be done to tackle the housing crisis.
