The RCR Santiago de la Ribera finalizes the preparations for the great festival of Children’s Sailing and Dinghy Sailing in the Mar Menor. This weekend welcomes the fleets of Optimist, ILCA 4, ILCA 6 and Snipe, with a total of almost 130 boats that will compete not only for the VI Centenario Trophy, but also the ILCA 4 and 6 representatives of the Region of Murcia will have the incentive of being valid for the regional ILCA.
The Optimist fleet is once again one of the largest, bringing together a greater number of sailors from the Region of Murcia. The best from the South of the Valencian Community also stand out who put up battle with the Murcian representatives.
Regarding the ILC 4 youth class, there are several options and several who enter the podium pools this Sunday. To name some of them, we find Claudia Garcia, from RCR Cartagena; Ángel Peñalver and Berta Redon, from Los Alcázares and who have achieved such good results in the last regattas in which they have taken part, from the south of the Valencian Community, mainly with the representatives of Torrevieja standing out among their expedition to Ariadna Gómez. On the local side, from the Region, they stand out in the list and with many options we have Ángel Peñalver or Berta Redondo to name one of them.
Regarding the ILCA 6, the new European champion stands out, within the framework of the European Master and within the Grand Master category, Carlos Martínez (RCR Santiago de la Ribera): Carlos Martínez. Also, and from the Region, Elsa Rodado, Manuel García, Juan Barnuevo and Marina Sánchez should be highlighted. While leaving and entering all bets include Paloma López or Daniel López.
The emblematic fleet of Snipe in the Mar Menor, from the RCR Santiago de la Ribera, will compete in the Centenario Trophy and with options for the title are Sergio Barrionuevo and José Ángel Calvo; Tomás García and Mª José Redondo; Pepe Pérez and Carlos Arriaga, while from the foreign fleet the tandem formed by Rosa Furia and Carlos Lizancos stands out, as well as Antonio Tomás and Eva Mª Veracruz.
The regatta committee has planned a total of six races on these two days of Saturday and Sunday, with an established maximum of three races per day. The starting point for the first test has been established at 12:00 p.m., on both days.
