The hate crimes prosecutor of Valencia, Susana Gisbert, has filed three complaints before the Court against three Vox councilors for spreading various hoaxes and racist comments.
Two of them are part of the municipal group Vox in the Valencia City Council where the ultra formation has four councilors and is a member of the PP Government, with Mayor María José Catalá at its head. The other is a councilor from Paiporta.
Specifically, Gisbert has filed a complaint with the dean of the courts of Valencia for its distribution and initiation of the corresponding procedure against the second deputy mayor and municipal spokesperson for Vox, Juan Manuel Badenas, who attributed the murder of a man to an immigrant. of 40 years on the Puente de las Moreras de València when the perpetrator of the events was Spanish, a hoax that he spread through a video on his social network hate crime.
Badenas spoke the day after the crime: “I come to state that the life of José Andrés Peña would surely not have ceased to exist if his alleged murderer had not entered Spain. A wave of crimes is occurring in the city of Valencia that we were fortunately not used to before but that unfortunately we are now suffering from,” he said at first and then added that “300,000 illegal immigrants have entered Spain since Pedro Sánchez ruled. and that has to be reversed; “We ask the Ministry of the Interior to prevent the entry of illegal immigrants, especially if some of them may allegedly be criminals.”
The spokesperson for the PSPV in the Valencia City Council, Borja Sanjuan, has already asked Catalá for Badenas to resign: “The mayor should make a deputy mayor who is denounced by the Prosecutor’s Office resign for trying to import racist hoaxes and generate violence against people. who live in this city. His situation within the Government and that Catalá continues to maintain it is unsustainable. It is no longer that the PSPV points out that what it has done is incorrect, it is that the Prosecutor’s Office understands that it is a crime and is about to be charged with a hate crime.”
The second complaint is against her colleague from the municipal group, councilor Cecilia Herrero, who between 2020 and 2023 published twenty messages in social network X as “so much reconquest to end up paying for the invasion of the Moors”; “Disgust. They are wild. Africa out of civilized Europe” or “They are not migrants or immigrants; They are Invaders.” In this case, the complaint was filed with the Prosecutor’s Office by Compromís and the PSPV also joined.
The municipal spokesperson for Compromís, Papi Robles, has announced that she will present an emergency motion in the municipal plenary session next Tuesday to request the dismissal of Cecília Herrero by the mayor, María José Catalá. “Catalá cannot keep Vox councilor Cecilia Herrero in its municipal government one more day.” He has also requested the dismissal of Badenas: “He is the second person in the municipal government. The level of humiliation that María José Catalá is allowing towards Valencians is now unacceptable. Catalá must stop him immediately, otherwise he will demonstrate that he has decided to govern at all costs, no matter who it is, and the consequences will be paid by more than 800,000 people. Either fire these two people or you will cease to be a mayor qualified to govern this city.”
Finally, the prosecutor has also filed a complaint in court against the Vox councilor in Paiporta David Furió, who in a comment on the social network X called for “lead” for immigrants. Specifically, in his publication he wrote: “Whoever wants to end immigration must comply with the law, which is why, if someone attacks our border or enters illegally, we must say, back or lead? If you decide to continue forward, you have to apply the lead…”
The City Council, led by the socialist Maribel Albalat, reported these events last July and the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office of Valencia opened criminal investigation proceedings.
