The President of the Government, Pedro Sanchezheld a meeting this Tuesday in Moncloa with almost thirty social organizations and representatives of the housing sector. The Minister of Housing also attended the meeting. Isabel Rodriguez. This is the third meeting of the Chief Executive with entities of this type.
After the meeting, Rodríguez appeared before the media. The minister has announced that a new commitment has been agreed with the participating entities. It involves the creation of a series of work groups together with the Government to be able to address possible solutions to the housing crisis. “We are not going to stop,” he has reiterated on several occasions. “We are going to solve it,” he added.
For Rodríguez, this Tuesday’s meeting shows that the Government “complies, listens and assists those who suffer from the housing problem and who are part of the solution. The minister has highlighted the “commitment” and the mobilization of resources to consolidate housing as the fifth pillar of the Welfare State. He described this new meeting as “very positive” and “very purposeful”, since all the agents have put all their ideas on the table. “Many are shared by the Government and some are underway,” Rodríguez highlighted.
He was not present at the meeting. Tenants Union, who have chosen not to attend despite being invited. “Tobacco companies are not invited to design the National Strategy against cancer and rentiers are not invited to discuss housing policy,” the organization has denounced the presence of the real estate employers.
The minister has been expressly asked about this absence but did not want to confront positions. He limited himself to highlighting that at the meeting he was “very represented” Spanish society. “It is a broad representation and what I value is the involvement and commitment of those who participate with the desire to collaborate to solve the problem,” he highlighted.

Completing the meeting are the Spanish Confederation of Savings Banks and Banks (Cecabank), the Higher Council of Colleges of Architects of Spain (CSCAE), the General Council of Official Colleges of Quantity Surveyors and Technical Architects of Spain/ the General Council of Technical Architecture of Spain ( CGATE), Hogar Sí, Provivienda, Third Sector Platform, Spanish Youth Council, UGT
CCOO and the Conference of Schools of Architecture of Spain.
