Five projects related to blockchain technology emerged – last Thursday, October 17 – as winners of the second edition of the Blockchain Awards of Alastriathe public-permissioned blockchain platform and meeting point for the development of blockchain technology. Metrovacesa, the Polytechnic University of Madrid, Onyze, Xpander by Teknia and Blue Room Innovation They received the awards at a ceremony held this Thursday at the Wizink Center in Madrid and which was attended by the main actors in the blockchain ecosystem.
During the awards ceremony, the need for collaboration between the private and public sectors was highlighted to continue developing this technology and the advances that have been made in this regard. Proof of this was the assistance of Ignacio Azorín Gonzálezdirector of Digital Strategy of the Community of Madrid, responsible for the closing of the event and who highlighted the commitment of the Government of the region.
“We are moving towards a model in which, within the blockchain and Web 3, certain sectors such as finance, health or logistics begin to shine and use cases emerge with clear utility. A jury of national and international experts, selected for their experience and commitment to the development of blockchain technology, carried out the process of choosing finalists and winners, in which Alastria partners were also able to vote. The “Blockchain Awards” of Alastria are an honorary distinction, whose purpose is to recognize and give visibility to the contribution that the award-winning projects are making to the adoption of blockchain technology. Winners of the “Blockchain Awards 2024”The award for Best blockchain project in “Decentralized Digital Identity” has gone to Digital Academic Credentials (Polytechnic University of Madrid)which develops sovereign and verifiable digital identity for the academic field. It facilitates the creation of sovereign digital identities, allowing students to manage their academic credentials in a secure and verifiable manner through blockchain. This solution, promoted by eleven Spanish universities, protects the privacy and integrity of academic data, reducing fraud and optimizing administration. The credentials that the system currently incorporates are the “Credential for Possession of a University Degree” and the “Credential for Possession of a Student Card.” The project addresses identity theft and data protection in the academic environment, providing verifiable credentials for degrees and student cards, with a solution that complies with GDPR and eIDAS 2 regulations. Onyzethe new generation digital asset custody and exchange project, has been the winner in the category of Best blockchain project in “Tokenization and Digital Assets”. Registered in Spain and Andorra, Onyze offers B2B solutions guaranteeing regulatory compliance and maximum security with a scalable infrastructure. It facilitates the integration of digital assets for banks, managers and fintechs, offering a plug-and-play solution that ensures the custody and operations of assets with regulatory compliance and cold custody security with a multi-vault system in disaggregated environments.
In the category of Best blockchain project in “Industrial Uses”the project that won the award was Digital Battery Passport – Vehicle 4.0 (Xpander by Teknia)which applies blockchain for the traceability of electric vehicle batteries. The project aims to improve the traceability and sustainability of electric car batteries throughout their entire value chain, through the creation of a digital product passport. The platform uses blockchain to store information about the battery, from mineral extraction to recycling, ensuring that the data is accessible to all actors in the chain. It is currently being used by ford.
Metrovacesa Space (Metrovacesa)an immersive virtual space to explore and reserve homes, has been recognized as the Best blockchain project on “Web3”. Through an avatar, allows users to learn about Metrovacesa promotions and make pre-reservations of homes using BIZUM, digital currency, Apple Pay or Google Pay. In addition, it offers areas dedicated to digital art and support for young entrepreneurs in the Proptech sector.
Lastly, the award to Best blockchain project in “Sustainability” has ended up in the hands of CircularTrust (Blue Room Innovation)a decentralized ecosystem to support sustainability and the circular economy that allows the creation of digital product passports to promote traceability, sustainability and transparency in the supply chain. Using decentralized digital identities and verifiable credentials, the ecosystem improves operational efficiency and facilitates collaboration between different actors, promoting sustainability in sectors such as steel, recycling, textiles and construction. This project has the support of large corporations and entities such as Ecoembes, Celsa Group or Adalmo.
