He November 4, Azkuna Zentroa will host the 13th edition of the ‘Global Innovation Day’the Basque innovation event that this year focuses on generative artificial intelligencea technology that is driving developments of great impact in all areas of society. Organized by the Basque Innovation Agency, Innobasquethe event will show six practical cases of how artificial intelligence is transforming the business fabric.
The ‘Global Innovation Day’, a meeting point for the innovation ecosystem, will host six practical cases developed by Basque organizations from different sectors. The choice of artificial intelligence and its generative aspect as the thematic axis of the edition reflects the growing prominence of this technology as a transformative engine, with an increasingly visible influence on the business and social fabric of Euskadi.
The selection of cases has the endorsement and supervision of the Basque Artificial Intelligence Center (BAIC) and the Basque Center for Applied Mathematics (BCAM), Innobasque partner organizations and collaborators of the Global Innovation Day:
Among the six case studies are Ariadna Grida family SME located in Amorebieta-Etxano and specialized in the development of solutions for electrical distribution, has created a system for the automatic detection of tampered meters; and the Eroski Group, food distribution cooperative based in Elorrio that has managed to improve the purchasing experience of its customers through a virtual assistant developed with generative AI.
On the health side, there are examples of Aita Menni Hospitala group of centers specialized in mental health, intellectual disabilities, neurorehabilitation and the elderly, which has developed a video-analytics system project based on AI to improve patient care; and the Santa Marina Hospital together with the Biobizkaia Health Research Institute, which have launched a systematized evaluation and rewriting process to improve the readability of informed consent documents.
Finally, the technology center Teknikerlocated in Eibar (Gipuzkoa), has developed an advanced security system for mobile machinery with ‘deep learning’ and people detection, capable of interacting in construction environments. AND Trebe Language technologies, startup from Donostia, born in the Vicomtech environment, has created the first platform that allows voices to be translated and transcribed in real time in Basque, Galician or Catalan.
Inspiring dialogue
In addition to these presentations, in which those responsible will present their projects from ideation to implementation, ‘Global Innovation Day’ will offer an inspiring dialogue and informative presentations about AI and its scope.
As a novelty, this year the great Basque innovation event will promote a meeting between 125 university and vocational training students and those responsible for 20 projects innovators in artificial intelligence. This activity will take place in the Azkuna Zentroa atrium between 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., while the main event will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium.
