The former member of One Direction Zayn Malik has announced that postpones his US tour after the death this week of his bandmate Liam Payne at the age of 31 after falling from a balcony in a hotel in Buenos Aires.

Malik left One Direction during the band’s tour in 2015, before the other four members decided to split the following year. On Friday, the singer he thanked his former partner to support him in “some of the most difficult moments of my life” through social networks.
“When I was homesick when I was 17, you were always there with a positive attitude and a reassuring smile and let me know that you were my friend and you loved me“, he recalled. “Even though you were younger than me, you were always more level-headed than me, you were stubborn and you didn’t mind telling people when they were wrong,” Malik wrote.
He also addressed the bandmates’ sometimes tumultuous relationship by stating that, “although we fight for this sometimes, I always secretly respected you for that.”
