First days of confusion and indignation among public health users in Maresme and Barcelonès Nord upon receiving a message via mobile phone with an appointment set for the Covid and Flu vaccination, without the possibility of modifying it. Patients over 60 years of age are scheduled for appointments in populations other than their residence and the message does not give any option to choose the most suitable time. According to the Department of Health, it is a pilot test that tries to give more coverage to the vaccination points.
The reaction has not been long in coming on social networks in the form of criticism of the pilot test and even some city councils such as Arenys de Mar (Maresme) have openly shown their rejection of the formula chosen for vaccination by regretting that it was not Inform those affected of the possibility of making an appointment at their own Primary Assistance Center (CAP).
A wider time slot
The pilot test initiated by CatSalut has had the disagreement of several town councils due to the message sent. In Arenys de Mar, for example, they urge people to go to the Llavaneres CAP, eight kilometers away, to receive the flu and Covid vaccine. However, in Arenys, CatSalut, as a result of the pilot test, has not accepted the transfer of a premises to facilitate vaccination. Users can also make an appointment online at their residence address.
According to the Department of Health, this year, and as a novelty, a pilot test has been designed in the territory of Barcelonès Nord and Maresme to increase flu and COVID-19 vaccination coverage in the candidate population to be vaccinated. With this objective, on October 14, six Population Vaccination Points (PVP) will open in different municipalities, which will operate from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday to Saturday. The desire, they say, is to offer a very wide and regular time slot (the same every day) to allow everyone to go, both with an appointment and without an appointment. In the CAPs, as they have scheduled and urgent care activity, the time slot reserved for vaccinations is always shorter.
To ensure maximum influx to the PVPs, yesterday SMS began to be sent to the target population of Barcelonès Nord and Maresme indicating the day and time to go and get vaccinated at a PVP. (The one closest to home). If a person’s SMS appointment does not go well, they inform Salut that they can go to the Vaccination Point on another day and another time (without an appointment). You can also make an appointment and get vaccinated at your reference CAP. The important thing, they say, “is that the person who wants to get vaccinated finds the most comfortable way to do so.”
The Health Department, through the Barcelona Metropolitan North Health Region, has informed the city councils of the objectives and operations of this pilot test, emphasizing that it seeks to increase coverage and reinforce accessibility. The RRPs are a plus that is added to the vaccination offer in the CAPs, which will continue as in previous campaigns.
Six CAPs as population vaccination points
The list of the six PVPs in the territory is as follows: Sant Adrià de Besòs (CAP Dr. Barraquer), Badalona (CAP Dr. Robert), Premià de Mar (CAP Premià de Mar-Dr. Gasol, emergency entry), Mataró ( CAP El Maresme), San Andrés de Llavaneres (CAP San Andrés de Llavaneres-Manoli Marco) and Santa Coloma de Gramanet (CAP Santa Coloma de Gramanet, on the 1st floor).
The campaign does not prioritize some CAPs over others; On the contrary, there are six vaccination points (located in CAPs that had spaces available) in the CAP network of Barcelonès Nord and Maresme.
