The Official College of Telecommunications Technical Engineers (COITT) has celebrated its 50th anniversary in a day where it addressed current events in the sector and recognized the contribution of various companies and professionals in the performance of their activities. The day began with the intervention of Matías González Martín, Secretary General of Telecommunications and Planning, who showed the Government’s willingness to “collaborate with the entire ecosystem” to encourage investment and the deployment of infrastructure. He also intervened Sergio Oslé, CEO of Telefónica Spain, who demanded equitable regulatory treatment between telecommunications operators and the large players that make majority use of telecommunications networks.
For its part, Luis Miguel Chapinal, dean of COITTcongratulated the professional group related to telecommunications for their ability to “transform society” over the last five decades, while proposing to “review the regulated professions with the aim of projecting them vigorously into the future.”
The COITT award for excellence in “Public Initiative” corresponded to Puertos del Estado, collected by Pilar ParraCorporate Director of State Ports. The award for “Impulse of Telecommunications” went to DigitalES, represented by its general director Miguel Sánchez Galindo, while the one for “Innovation and accessibility to technologies” was in the hands of the ONCE Foundation, given to its director of Accessibility and Innovation, Jesus Hernandez.
The COITT award for “Business Development and Initiative” recognized the work of Microsoft, with a trophy that was collected Doris Gomesdirector of Cloud Adoption and Innovation and member of the Management Committee of Microsoft Spain. A special mention was also dedicated to Nuria Oliverco-founder and vice president of ELLIS and RAEl member, as well as the “Dedication to telecommunications” award to Santiago González Carrero, president of the Telefónica Senior Group Association.
Finally, the awards for journalistic career in telecommunications recognized four journalists ex equo for “the work and contribution in the field of journalism specialized in technology”, as well as the “exceptional commitment to truthful information and dissemination.” of technological advances”. The winners were Pilar Bernat, from Zonamovilidad; Ignacio del Castillo, from Expansión; Norberto Gallego, from La Vanguardia and Antonio Lorenzo, from elEconomista.
