Flavio Briatore could say goodbye to Twiga. According to what ‘Il Giornale’ reveals, the historic venue in Marina di Pietrasanta, in Tuscany, could soon change hands. At least three offers are already ready on the entrepreneur’s table, two of which from international funds, while the third would have been presented by Leonardo Maria Del Vecchio, one of the six children of the unforgettable founder of Luxottica, Leonardo.
The Twiga of Versilia has a turnover of over 9 million and employs around 70 people, plus around sixty who work around the Briatore fort. A meeting place for personalities from the world of TV, politics and finance, it is universally recognized as an icon of luxury and worldliness, where food and entertainment can be combined. Such a successful formula that over time the brand has been exported and today has five locations: alongside the one in Pietrasanta, two locations have been added in Montecarlo, another in London and Baia Benjamin, in Liguria.
The rumors point to Del Vecchio junior who, in addition to being the chief strategic office of the multinational eyewear company, has for some time launched his own business in the world of catering, opening three restaurants in Milan and taking over two famous establishments, ‘Le Carillon’ in Paraggi and ‘Franco Mare ‘ in Marina di Pietrasanta, renamed Vesta Portofino and Vesta Mare respectively. Strengthened by his extraordinary financial solidity and with at least 500 million to spend on a project that is developing in the name of the rediscovery of excellent Made in Italy catering, the young manager it seems to have what it takes to beat the other two funds that have come forward.
Briatore, meanwhile, makes it known that he is increasingly engrossed in Formula 1 and that he doesn’t have time to dedicate himself to anything else; after all, he also owns the Crazy Pizza chain, which has over twenty locations, half of which are franchises, and the Billionaire, which will also open an outpost in St. Moritz on December 6th.
