There is an expression in English that serves to precisely define Israel’s behavior: ‘going rogue’. It is said of someone who acts recklessly and outside of all regulations or regulations. It is normally applied to people, but is increasingly used to refer to states like the one led by Benjamin Netanyahu. It is not surprising that the Palestinian Prime Minister, Mohammad Mustafa, accuses the Hebrew country of acting in disregard of international legality and United Nations resolutions. But what is more striking is that the Israelis themselves do it in forums with as much weight as those of the Haaretz newspaper: “A ‘rogue’ prime minister is turning Israel into a ‘rogue’ state,” headlines Alon Pinkas in an article in which he uses ‘rogue’ in its meaning of ‘criminal’ to refer to Netanyahu, whom he also calls ‘autocrat, dishonest and vile’.
In his latest book, ‘War’, Washington Post journalist Bob Woodward reveals that Biden refers to ‘Bibi’ as a ‘son of a bitch’ and ‘a fucking bad person’, showing that the Hebrew prime minister seems to be making decisions contrary even to the wishes of the United States, the country on which its defense depends. Or, at least, much of the weapons with which it defends itself. Therefore, it is logical to wonder how long Washington’s patience will last in the face of the escalation of war – and the concatenation of barbarities justified with a right to defense in which the principle of proportionality is ignored – that the Israeli Executive is causing.
Because first it was reducing Gaza to rubble, now it is opening a war front in Lebanon – it is no longer even important to attack the UN Blue Helmets – and attacking Syria, and there are already those who point towards the search for a direct confrontation with Iran , something that seemed undesirable from all points of view. Unfortunately, all of this is happening with the connivance of the Western powers, who continue to ask Netanyahu to put on the brakes with a small mouth and doing absolutely nothing.
Therefore, today we focus on analyzing why the Israeli prime minister should be stopped.
These are the two topics we will address today:
-
Middle East on fire
Netanyahu is the greatest danger to Israel
I have always rejected conspiracy theories. The vast majority – if not all – are a raving of feverish minds in search of answers that reinforce their ideology and beliefs. However, there are matters that are too suspicious to trust the official version at face value: the Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023 is one of those. It is hard to believe that intelligence services capable of synchronously blowing up enemy beepers and walkie-talkies in a foreign country, and selectively killing their leaders, had no idea that hundreds of terrorists were going to attack their territory using even hang gliders. Logically, it is impossible to ensure that this was not the case without evidence to confirm it, but it is at least suspicious.
Regardless of whether the Mossad had prior information or not, it is evident that the brutal attacks by Hamas have been, in the end, a political lifeline for Netanyahu, a prime minister who was in very low hours of popularity, cornered even by his own army. . The war – and this is nothing new – has kept him in power. The problem is that it is claiming countless innocent lives and dragging Israel – and the world – into a regional conflict that could have a notable global impact.
Netanyahu hides his particular war for survival in power behind the war for the survival of the country. But it is not going to achieve what all Israelis would like, to be able to live in peace, quite the opposite. Because he does not have the capacity to annihilate all his enemies, as seems to be his goal, and the bleeding he is causing is going to earn him many new ones. The Jews already made it clear what that means: an eye for an eye. And, in the end, all blind.
It is also true that it is nothing new for Israel to ignore international legality: it has traditionally passed United Nations resolutions through the triumphal arch and continues to establish illegal settlements in Palestinian territory. But it is getting closer and closer to assuming the sad label of terrorist state that many already give it. The latest episode points in that direction, in which it has come to occupy a UN base – an organization created to prevent a repetition of the tragedy of the world wars – with at least one of its tanks, causing gas poisoning from a dozen blue helmets. Rogue.
It is evident that the Israeli prime minister does not want witnesses of any kind. Because their operations have also caused a real massacre among Palestinian journalists who cover what is happening in Gaza: 125 have died according to yesterday’s data provided by the Committee to Protect Journalists. On the other hand, foreign informants are prohibited from entering the strip. They can only access it on trips organized by the Hebrew forces to see what they want to show them and without the ability to compare the data.
For all this, it is time for someone to stop Netanyahu, surely the worst thing that has happened to Israel so far this century. And only the United States can achieve it. So Washington would do well to follow the story and do with him the same thing it demands of China with respect to Vladimir Putin and the invasion of Ukraine. The minimum is to stop arms shipments, because it is more evident that they are being used to commit war crimes.
That we do not agree with the regimes that threaten Israel – theocrats and authoritarians, contrary to all the progressive advances of the West and often champions of terrorist techniques – should not make us complicit in acts that are not very different from those that we criticize so much in the fundamentalists Islamic. It is not unreasonable to think that in the future, Netanyahu will have to answer for his actions in court. But we would have to ensure that, unlike what has happened on previous occasions, it does so before having one foot in the grave.

Tension in the Far East
China besieges Taiwan in worrying exercises
In another of the ‘hot’ spots on the planet, on Monday China added a little more fuel to the fire with military exercises aimed at surrounding the island of Taiwan – independent ‘de facto’ but whose sovereignty Beijing claims – in a simulation of the first phase of a hypothetical invasion of ancient Formosa. As he did in the first ‘Joint Sword’ operation in May, he managed to complete the siege without major problems, causing several cargo ships to turn around on their journey to Taiwanese ports, which would be the first objective of the second phase, that of the attack.
China has always made it clear that the Taiwan conflict is a domestic conflict and, therefore, no world power has the right to interfere in it. The United States, from the pragmatic lack of definition that allows it to do business with the Asian giant while supplying weapons to Taiwan, warns Beijing that it will come to the aid of its democratic partner, although more and more analysts are questioning that point. Because its forays into Asia – Korea, Vietnam or Afghanistan – have been a fiasco and a confrontation with China could come out shorn. Furthermore, if Trump returns to the White House, the United States will once again turn into a ball.
Without a doubt, the global geopolitical situation is going through a delicate moment. With fires in Europe and the Middle East, another one in the Far East could have devastating consequences, especially economically. If, furthermore, these currently geographically confined wars find common links – Iran, for example, is a protagonist in both the Middle East fire and the invasion of Ukraine, and maintains good relations with China – the threat of a Third World War could materialize. At the end of the day, the sides are clear and the reasons for them to confront each other grow every day.
That’s all for today. I hope I have explained well some of what is happening in the world. If you are subscribed, you will receive this newsletter every Wednesday in your email. And, if you like it, it will be very helpful if you share and recommend it.
