The judges of the Court of Rome have rejected the validation of the arrest of the 12 migrants who were held since Wednesday in the identification and repatriation centers established in Albania for the ultra Italy of Giorgia Meloni. This decision represents a major judicial setback for the Italian president’s government plan.
The Rome panel of judges has stated that “Bangladesh and Egypt are not safe countries for migrants“, thus supporting a ruling of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) which questions the system of transferring people implemented by Italy to Albania, a country that is not a member of the EU.
They have pointed out that “the arrests were not in accordance with the principles binding rules established for national judges and the Administration itself, as indicated in the recent ruling of the CJEU”. According to local media reports, The migrants will be repatriated to Italian territory this Saturday.
