The actress Aitana Sánchez-Gijón will receive the Goya of Honor 2025 as announced by the Film Academy in an event at the institution’s headquarters. He will be the youngest person to receive it at 55 years old, but he has been in his career for 40 years. The award will be presented to him at the 39th edition of the awards to be held on February 8, 2025 at the Granada Exhibition and Congress Palace. In the 39 editions, already counting the one that will take place in 2025, there have been 30 men and 9 women who have received it, although in the last ten years there has been parity, with five women and five men.
Aitana Sánchez Gijón had a small meeting with the press after the announcement and said she felt “shocked, excited and very upset.” He remembered his teachers, Alicia Hermida and Óscar Vidal, his first teacher at the María Galleta school. There she experienced a kind of “epiphany” and knew that she wanted to be an actress. He confessed that he had doubts about accepting it because he considered himself too young.
“I discussed it with him because I consider it to be an award for a longer career, for a later moment in life, but Méndez-Leite asked me, are you going to reject it? I stayed silent and told him that I was not going to reject it, because I also thought that if he said no, the day I have more merits from the age of 70, they would no longer want to give it to me, so it will be now.” , she said with humor and recognizing herself as “greatly privileged” to belong to that “7% that can dedicate themselves to this.”
