Journalist is investigated for participating in January 8; has been considered a fugitive since December 2022
The minister of the STF (Supreme Federal Court) Alexandre de Moraes requested the extradition of journalist Oswaldo Eustáquio this Tuesday (15.Oct.2024). The former president’s supporter Jair Bolsonaro (PL) is in Spain. To the Power360he said this is “another unfair and persecutory decision” against him.
The document was sent to the Ministry of Justice and then passed on to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which will discuss the matter with the Spanish government. In August, Moraes issued a request for prison and search and seizure against Eustáquio, who is considered a fugitive.
In operation Dial 100, the Federal Police went to the home of the content creator’s wife in Brasília. His 16-year-old daughter was searched. Eustáquio is suspected of corruption of minors, for allegedly involving the minor in the alleged crimes.
Oswaldo Eustáquio is being investigated for his participation in the extremist acts of January 8th. He is fugitive since December 2022. In June of that year it had already been arrested for acts considered “anti-democratic”. He traveled to Paraguay and was approached by local police, but was released after asking asylum.
To the Power360Oswaldo Eustáquio said that the measure is unfair, persecutory and “it will make Brazil ashamed”since the blogger received asylum in Spain. His wife testified to the PF this Tuesday.
“It is another unfair, arbitrary and persecutory decision by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, who has been persecuting me since 2020. I have been investigated for almost 5 years and nothing has been found against me”, he stated.
The content creator said that his defense did not have access to the request and that it is not included in the case file, which is under judicial secrecy.
