The Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado called on judicial officials this Tuesday not to follow orders that violate the Constitution and the laws, almost two months after the Supreme Court validated the questioned re-election of Nicolás Maduro.

“The time has come for all judicial officials to be the face of courage and dignity, for you not to follow orders that violate the Constitution and for you to defend your own,” said the opponent in an audio broadcast on social networks.
The petition comes a day after the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), of the ruling party, rejected two petitions for review by former candidates opposed to the ruling of August 22 that validated Maduro’s re-election on July 28 amid complaints of fraud.
“You know that the judicial decisions made by a few against the Constitution and the will of the Venezuelan people are null,” continued the opponent, who claims the victory of her candidate Edmundo González Urrutia and who maintains that the justice system does not It is independent.
The National Electoral Council (CNE) proclaimed Maduro re-elected for a third six-year term (2025-2031) with 52% of the votes without publishing the details of the count, as required by law, after alleging a hack to the system.
The opposition led by Machado published on a website copies of electoral records with which they claim a victory for González, exiled in Spain after an arrest warrant against him.
Maduro hinted on Monday with a laugh that Machado had also left the country. The opposition has not spoken, although on previous occasions she has denied the possibility of going into exile. Machado has also called on the Army to “do” the electoral results, something that has been described by the Minister of Defense, Vladimir Padrino López, as so-called “seditious.”
The opposition also presented earlier “a technical report” to the OAS in which it claims a “victory” for González Urrutia. The United States, the European Union and several Latin American countries have ignored Maduro’s victory and are demanding that the electoral authority publish detailed results. Post-election protests left 27 dead – two of them soldiers – and more than 2,400 detained.
