The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced this Tuesday (15) the capture of three Hezbollah terrorists in a tunnel in southern Lebanon, discovered with a large amount of weapons and equipment to survive long periods, according to a military communiqué.
Two days ago, Israeli forces reported the capture of a terrorist from the Shiite group in southern Lebanon, who was transferred to Israel for interrogation.
The three terrorists whose capture was announced on Tuesday are members of Hezbollah’s elite Radwan force, according to Israel, which says they will also be interrogated on Israeli soil. The statement details that they were found under a building used by the Iranian-allied Shiite group in southern Lebanon.
“After surrendering, the terrorists were captured, arrested and interrogated by Unit 504 field investigators and then transferred to a correctional center in the country for further investigation,” officials said.
Israel announced for the first time on Sunday (13) that it had captured a Hezbollah terrorist, identified this Tuesday as Wadah Kamel Yunes, in a tunnel during its operations in southern Lebanon.
Until then, the Israeli government had only reported the number of terrorists killed in southern Lebanon, around 400, since the start of its ground incursion on October 1.
Authorities on Tuesday released a video of Yunes’ interrogation, in which he claims that the leaders of the Radwan force fled after the assassination of Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah because they are “men of little faith” who are only interested in money.
Since Israel launched its ground offensive in southern Lebanon in the early hours of October 1, at least 14 Israeli soldiers have been killed in attacks on the northern border: ten in combat in southern Lebanon and another four on Israeli territory. Three civilians were also killed in Israel in Hezbollah attacks.
