The head of the Executive will go to the municipality of Bahia to participate in a rally alongside PT member Luiz Caetano
The president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) will visit Camaçari (BA) on October 17th to support the candidate for Mayor of the municipality of Bahia Luiz Caetano (PT). The PT member was mayor for 2 terms, from 2005 to 2012, and almost won the election in the 1st round.
The confirmation was made on the PT candidate’s Instagram page this Friday (October 11, 2024). “It’s confirmed! On October 17th, Caetano receives President Lula in Camaçari”he wrote.
The dispute for the City Hall of Camaçari, in Bahia, will have a 2nd round between Luiz Caetano (PT) and Flávio Matos (União Brasil). With 100% of the ballots counted in the city of Bahia, Caetano received 49.52% of the valid votes (attributed to a candidate, excluding blanks and null votes), and Matos, 49.17%. Voters return to the polls on October 27, 2024.
This week, Luiz Caetano was in Brasília and met with the president. Lula said that his birthday present will be the victory of the PT member in the municipality of Bahia. He turns 79 on the same day as the 2nd round of municipal elections, on October 27th.
“I have a birthday on Election Day. And the best gift I can receive is to see the people of Camaçari electing Caetano again. He has been mayor 3 times and has had a wonderful administration. I’m sure he’ll do much more,” said Lula.
ELECTIONS IN CAMAÇARI
Camaçari has 300,372 inhabitants. It is located 50 km from the capital, Salvador, being part of the metropolitan region. Here are the city’s last mayors:
- Elinaldo Araújo (DEM) – 2017-2024;
- Ademar Delgado das Chagas (PT) – 2013-2016;
- Luiz Caetano (PT) – 2005-2012.
The city’s economy is almost entirely based on the industrial hub, opened in 1978 in the city and still in operation today.
